How It Works

A journalist can use the browser-based RadioMan-On Air to manage music playback while reporting on-site.
Remote journalist can activate the broadcast function on the Lamppu app, which automatically fades out the music and switches to live reporting or interviews.
When the broadcast concludes, the music resumes seamlessly.
In studio environments, producers can grant specific Lamppu users permission for live commentary during programs.

User Case: Maiju on the Move

Radio Journalist Maiju is on the go with the Lamppu app. Here’s how she uses it:

Logging In
Maiju enters her credentials into the Lamppu login screen, selects a program broadcast to connect to, and taps the Connect button.
Joining the Broadcast
Once connected, she can listen to the program mix signal of the broadcast. At the same time, the studio sees her on the Live page guest list, signaling her availability.
Requesting Talk Access
To perform a live interview from the field, Maiju taps the Talk/Microphone button to request talk access.
– If studio settings require permission, the studio operator grants access via the Guest list.
– Alternatively, the connection starts immediately if automatic access is enabled.
Muted Output While Talking
If the “Mute output while talking” setting is enabled, the program output on Maiju’s mobile device is muted while she is talking. She can also manually mute or unmute the output using the dedicated button in the Lamppu UI.
Ending the Talk
After completing her live interview, Maiju taps the Talk/Microphone button again to stop the talk mode. She continues to listen to the program mix signal until she disconnects by tapping the Connect/Disconnect button.
